BJC required a new primary data center as increasingly automated hospital operations led to a higher demand for IT services.
Clayco, in a joint venture with Legacy Building Group, LLC, completed a 34,700-square-foot Primary Data Center for BJC HealthCare. Despite forty-six weather-related delays, the new data center construction was completed two months ahead of schedule.
BJC required a new primary data center as increasingly automated hospital operations led to a higher demand for IT services. Redundant mechanical and electrical systems were put in place in order to avoid outages. The critical structural design was built to withstand F-3 tornado conditions as well. In addition, the team completed site improvements and infrastructure at the existing Progress West HealthCare Center site.
The data center was designed, built and is maintained to protect and conserve the environment while providing a healthy living and working setting. Strategies that helped achieve LEED NC v2.2 Gold certification include a highefficiency/eco-friendly, water-cooled central plant; a highdensity heat containment system; high-efficiency, low-flow plumbing fixtures within the building; and the incorporation of bioswale wetland filter systems throughout the project site.
