Clayco completed renovations on the 25,000-square-foot retail area of the east block of Presidential Towers. A 10,100-square-foot addition with 25-foot clear heights was attached to tower No. 2 to accommodate growing demand for expansion of the existing health club within the building. Enclosing and renovating the former Clinton Street dock area added approximately 5,000 square feet and allowed the fitness club to have a main entrance accessible from Clinton Street. An exterior pool constructed on the roof of the third floor provides club members a place to enjoy the sun during summer months.
Renovation of the east block also changed the way residents and the public access existing retail areas. Once an interior mall setting with interior corridors, the renovation replaced the internal corridors with doors accessible from the surrounding Clinton, Monroe and Jefferson streets. Expansive, all-glass storefront entries were installed around the building, allowing more natural light to infuse perimeter retail areas and increasing sidewalk access to the main entrances. Along with the new storefronts, the rest of the exterior façade is clad with metal panels to give the building a modern update. A three-story curtainwall system highlights the southwest corner of the retail area to draw attention to the market space entrance.
