Advanced Manufacturing

Total cost of production. Speed to market. Safety. Efficiency. Clayco’s design-build approach starts with understanding our clients’ business goals and the manufacturing processes that drive them.
—

Rather than fitting the process into a predetermined building, we design the facility around the process. By collaborating early, our integrated teams optimize process flow and coordinate equipment, infrastructure, design, and construction as one connected solution.

Using tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM), real-time cost and schedule data, and integrated planning, we identify challenges earlier, reduce waste, and make informed decisions throughout delivery.

The result is a facility designed to help our customers operate safer, more efficiently, and get products to market faster.

Automotive and EV manufacturing

From stamping and body shop through weld, paint shop, assembly, propulsion and drive assembly, we build the full production sequence. Each area carries its own tolerances, process utilities and commissioning requirements, and those requirements drive the schedule. A paint shop is not a warehouse with a different name.

Next-generation production lines are built to change. We plan for rapid scalability from the start: the line you are commissioning now and the one you will want three years from now.

Semiconductors and Microelectronics

Wafer fabrication construction runs by its own rules. Clean Build protocol from the first day of interior work. Ultra-high purity process utilities. Mini-environment integration, conductive flooring systems and sub-fabrication coordination that has to be resolved before anything above it can proceed.

We model AMHS routing, process utilities and process flow control before anything is installed, because that is where tolerances are actually protected. Our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team builds the facility digitally first so clash detection happens on a screen rather than in a finished sub-fabrication.

Life Sciences and Biomanufacturing

Bio-manufacturing and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production facilities are built around controlled environments: cleanroom classification, pressure cascades, containment and the documentation trail that proves all of it held.

We build cGMP-compliant facilities and controlled environments to ISO classification requirements, and we verify them. Our integrated approach was developed specifically for complex life sciences capital projects, bringing commissioning and qualification thinking into design rather than bolting it on at the end.

Clean Energy

Clayco’s Power and Energy business unit delivers utility-scale solar and battery energy storage, integrating engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning under one roof. Electricity demand in the U.S. is projected to grow 15% by 2030.

That matters to manufacturers. The facilities we build now are increasingly planned around their own power strategy from day one, not connected to one later.

Material Handling and Process Flow

Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) and automated material handling connect the production line to the supply chain. We design and build them as part of the process, not as something bolted onto a finished building.

Process flow control, process utilities and material movement get coordinated in the same model as the structure, which is how we keep equipment installation off the critical path.
