Clayco designed and built this 280,000-square-foot automotive stamping parts facility for Gestamp in McCalla, Alabama. The new facility is located in the Jefferson Metropolitan Industrial Park located just west of Birmingham, Alabama. The new facility is very close to their existing manufacturing plant. The project included more than 280,000 square feet for manufacturing operations with about 25,000 square feet of office and employee welfare spaces. Building features include concrete tilt-up construction, hydraulic dock positions, an overhead bridge crane, and a cross-dock configuration. Energy efficient and sustainable design features include fluorescent lighting, concrete paving, a white reflective roof, natural lighting and building systems controls. The manufacturing facility will provide metal production parts for the Mercedes Benz automotive production facility in Vance near Tuscaloosa Alabama.
