Rivian Supplier Park

This Rivian project was a 1.2-million-square-foot supplier and logistics park that housed materials and supplies for the manufacturing plant located just across the street.

Rivian invested nearly $120 million to develop a 1.2 million square-foot supplier park and warehousing/logistics facility near its existing plant in Normal, Illinois. This design-build opportunity was expected to generate several hundred supplier-related jobs and nearly 100 direct Rivian positions.

The supplier park was a strategic initiative designed to support Rivian’s expanding electric vehicle production by co-locating key suppliers adjacent to the main campus. This proximity significantly reduced shipping, logistics, and warehousing costs, ultimately streamlining supply chain operations. Construction was underway, with completion anticipated in 2026.

The development also included a connector tunnel beneath Highway 150, enabling direct and efficient access between the supplier park and Rivian’s main manufacturing facility. Additional infrastructure improvements included a new roundabout at the intersection of College Avenue and Highway 150, along with other road and logistics enhancements identified through a comprehensive traffic study.

In addition to the primary buildings, the project featured a 1 million square-foot warehouse on wheels exterior paving area. This expansive paved zone accommodated trailer staging and mobile warehousing, providing critical flexibility for inbound and outbound logistics operations.

Rivian anticipated that several key suppliers would establish operations within the park, improving material supply processes and enhancing production reliability. Beyond operational efficiencies, this project represented a major economic development initiative, contributing to significant local job creation and long-term regional growth through both Rivian and its extended supply chain.
