Nissan’s Smyrna manufacturing plant and distribution center supports inbound production parts and outbound returnable containers, thereby streamlining the manufacturing supply chain.

Clayco completed construction on a 1.5 million-square-foot manufacturing plant and logistics center for Nissan North America in the spring of 2017. Located in Smyrna, Tennessee, the facility is located just south of the auto manufacturer’s main campus. Due to underlying rock, Clayco performed extensive blasting in order to level the site, which consisted of 77 acres of heavily wooded, undeveloped land.

The plant includes more than 500,000-square-feet for manufacturing operations, 1 million-square-feet for warehouse and distribution purposes, and 60,000-square-feet of office space. Building features include 32-foot height-clearance, a central chiller plant, a medium voltage substation, 168 dock positions, an overhead bridge crane, and cross-dock configuration. Energy efficient and sustainable design features include fluorescent lighting, concrete paving, a white reflective roof, a central chiller plant, and building systems controls.
