This warehouse facility serves as the main distribution center for five local stores.

Clayco and Lamar Johnson Collaborative provided design-build services for an 808,835-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility for Jordan’s Furniture. Located in the Liberty and Union Industrial Park, the facility’s design reflects the furniture retailer’s unique brand, which combines the shopping experience with entertainment.

Clayco faced great challenges on this project due to extremely harsh winter conditions. To combat more than 4 feet of frost on the ground, Clayco used 16 ground heaters to thaw the subgrade and install the footings and perimeter floor slabs to prepare for forming and pouring the tilt-up panels.

The facility employs cross-dock organization and includes 158 dock doors, eight customer delivery doors at grade, and a drive-in door. With tilt-up concrete walls comprising the 38-foot six-inch clear-height storage space, the facility is fully racked and protected with an in-rack sprinkler system. The dock work and staging area are 120 feet deep and feature work areas for furniture assembly, unpacking, touch-up, repair and delivery preparation. This warehouse facility serves as the main distribution center for five local stores. The site is designed to accommodate an additional 378,000 square feet of warehouse space and Jordan’s Furniture’s future corporate headquarters.
