Clayco’s Lamar Johnson Collaborative was hired to design a new high rise hospital that celebrates and transforms the experience of patient respite.
The design for this small urban site incorporates inpatient and outpatient services stacked within a single eleven story tower. A design concept evolved out of a desire to contribute to the “re-greening” of Istanbul with the creation of enclosed garden spaces articulated and celebrated as a series of multi story “Sky Gardens”. These naturally ventilated spaces are accessible from each of the six inpatient floors and provide patient, staff, and visitors linkages to nature and expansive views of historic Istanbul.
