Aeroterm and MLR Air Cargo Facility

The new facility serves tenants seeking to expedite airfreight delivery.

Clayco was selected to design-build the new 164,000-square-foot air cargo facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Aeroterm and MLR Management Inc. developed the $6 million project.

The new facility serves tenants seeking to expedite airfreight delivery. The 1,000-foot-long cross-dock facility, which is situated on a runway apron ramp with space for four 747-air cargo freighters, is designed to serve up to 12 users seeking efficient, high-throughput distribution. Trucks have access to 61 dock-high doors and six drive-in doors. Airside and ground operations are served by 39 oversized grade-level doors.

The structure constructed of a tilt-up concrete panel facade, a structural steel frame and minimum clear-height ceilings of 23 feet. It includes twin mezzanines that contain a total of 20,000 square feet of Class A office space.

As design-builder, Clayco coordinated drawings and plans with multiple governmental agencies to ensure that the project conformed to the airport’s master plan.
