Clayco, in a joint venture with partner TW Constructors, provided design-build construction on a new health clinic, office and laboratory facility for St. Louis County. The two-story, 93,000-square-foot structure was built on the site of the John C. Murphy Health Clinic in Berkeley, Missouri.
In addition to providing the community with general healthcare services, the clinic offers a dental clinic, a chest clinic, radiology and pharmaceutical services, as well as specialized care for infants, children, teens and women. Adding complexity to the project was environmental laboratories for air pollution, industrial hygiene, radiation, air quality and monitoring, food, milk, and water analysis.
The project was built to achieve LEED registration with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). It includes high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems. The windows, wall systems and roof provide the building envelope with optimal thermal performance and maximize daylighting. Rapidly reusable, locally sourced materials were used and construction debris was diverted from landfills and recycled.
