The renovation was part of the Science Center’s $41 million Transform Tomorrow: The Campaign for Science Education fundraising effort.

Clayco served as the general contractor for the $2.6 million lobby renovation at the St. Louis Science Center. The renovation was part of the Science Center’s $41 million Transform Tomorrow: The Campaign for Science Education fundraising effort.

The renovation included the addition of a 5,000-pound, 20-person capacity elevator. In order to install the elevator, Clayco had to lift two 65-foot tubular steel trusses, each weighing 12,500 pounds, through the roof of the St. Louis Science Center. Once welded into place, these trusses held the elevator.

In addition to the elevator installation, Clayco added a stairway and mezzanine level and three food courts to the lobby.
