San-J International Food Processing Plant

The expansion doubled the size of the existing plant.

Clayco constructed a $17 million expansion of a soy sauce production facility for San-J International in Richmond, Virginia.

The expansion more than doubles the size of the original plant. San-J International makes Tamari soy sauce and other Asian cooking sauces. San-J International’s Japanese location was originally founded in 1804.

The expansion was 60,000 square feet and began its operation in 2017. Included in the overall space is a 44,000-square-foot expansion of the existing 57,000-square-foot structure, plus another 15,000-square-foot raw materials processing building that was added to the 7.9-acre site.
