Steven S. Wymer Hall – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

1 2 3 / 3

This is the eighth project that Clayco has built on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and our fifth project as a JV with Turner.

The new Steven S. Wymer Hall facility serves undergraduate and graduate students – both residential and online – as well as faculty and staff. The four-story building is just under 100,000 square feet and stands on Gregory Drive between the Business Instructional Facility and Huff Hall. Construction began in Spring 2023 and was completed by Fall 2025.

This state-of-the-art building helps prepare Illinois students for futures of purpose and impact. A partnership between Gies Business and the campus, this hybrid educational facility is home to much-needed collaboration spaces, traditional and flexible classrooms, informal learning environments, content creation studios, as well as academic offices and support spaces.

Located in the heart of South Campus, this building offers spaces that enable learners – both on campus and online – to achieve their potential. It includes a 200-seat auditorium, two 80-seat classrooms, and four 60-seat classrooms. In support of the College’s rapidly growing online programs, the new building also includes two 40’x40’ sound stages, five blackbox studios, and six control booths. The 18 additional meeting and collaborative rooms provide expanded space for experiential learning, group work, and meetings with recruiters. Finally, 84 new office spaces support the college’s growing faculty and staff.

The leading-edge online teaching studios help bring the educational power of the University of Illinois to the world. Classrooms and gathering spaces provide the tools and technology learners need to discover ways to make a positive impact on the world. The flexible classrooms allow a quick transition from a lecture format to collaborative group interaction.
