Clayco completed the IMPE Phase II renovation project at the Champaign-Urbana Campus of the University of Illinois.
This project consisted of a complete renovation and addition to the existing intramural physical education athletic facility for the use of university students. Construction involved complete interior and partial exterior wall demolition, new steel structure, new exterior curtain wall and brick façade, and complete interior construction of intramural athletic spaces. The interior work included renovating the existing gymnasiums and racquet facilities as well as construction of new gymnasium spaces. New cardio training and weight room facilities as well as an interior climbing wall were included. Support areas for all athletic spaces including new locker rooms, meeting areas, public gathering areas and elevators were also part of the interior work.
In addition to the architectural spaces being constructed, the project also included a complete replacement of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems. This work included all new electrical, lighting and power systems. Completely new HVAC supply and mechanical piping systems provided heating and cooling for the new facility. New plumbing and fire protection systems included service the facility. New security, data transmission, and fire alarm systems provide state of the art life safety protection for the IMPE building.
Clayco served as a consultant on this project to help maintain schedule progress and coordination of management activities to insure successful completion of the project on time.
