Ray Phoenix

Ray Phoenix

This is the first of possibly three integrated LJC and Clayco design-build, high-rise towers.

The 26-floor, 401-unit tower, known as the Ray Phoenix, was built at 777 N. Central Avenue with LJC and structural engineering firm, PK Associates. The building plan included a four-story, 132,000-square-foot, above-ground parking garage.

Ray and VeLa co-developed the project, and they believe that the urban renter shouldn’t have to compromise, that luxury apartments can be attainable, that efficient design can be elevating, and that well-worn layouts can be replaced by custom living spaces that truly make life larger. Their latest residential tower is transit-oriented and centrally located downtown, two blocks from Roosevelt Row.

By focusing on the elements that add value to the resident experience and by picking the right partners to eliminate the unnecessary friction on the path from concept to project completion, Ray has an edge over the typical apartment building, an edge that it hands back to its renters. Whether that edge manifests itself in the design and functionality of amenity spaces, the richness of a building’s story as told through public art, or the extra livability of an oversized kitchen island, that attention to enhancing the resident experience is what defines Ray.

Topping Out

Our Ray Phoenix project celebrated its Topping Out ceremony in April 2025! The team got a chance to sign the beam during a site-wide lunch and then came together to watch as the beam was raised to the top of the 26-story residential tower.
