Caterpillar Parts Distribution Center

This project incorporated a number of energy reduction and resource conservation measures.

Clayco and Lamar Johnson Collaborative are providing design-build services on a 409,000-square-foot parts distribution center for Caterpillar Logistics Inc. at the junction of Interstate 5 and Highway 99 in Lebec, California. The project marks the design-builder’s fifth collaboration with Caterpillar.

Being constructed using tilt-up concrete over a hybrid wood and steel structural system, the one-level facility will feature 32-foot clear heights. The project also includes a 200,000-square-foot outdoor storage area for oversized parts.

Clayco is incorporating a number of energy reduction and resource conservation measures. For example, daylight harvesting controls will turn off electric lights when there is sufficient natural light available through abundant skylights. Other sustainable features include high-efficiency fixtures, motion sensors on all lights, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and reclaimed water for landscaping irrigation.
