O’Hare 21 – Satellite Concourse D

Satellite Concourse D is a key component of O’Hare 21, the ambitious curb-to-gate transformation of O’Hare International Airport into a modern, world-class global hub.

Designed to serve both international and domestic passengers, this new concourse will enhance operational efficiency while improving the overall passenger experience in one of the nation’s busiest airports. Adding 19 new gates, the project is engineered for flexibility, allowing it to accommodate various aircraft sizes. This adaptability optimizes airline operations and reduces the need for layover transfers, making connections smoother for travelers.

Supporting infrastructure improvements will begin this summer, including a stormwater project that will facilitate the future elimination of a detention basin west of the concourse. This water management strategy will redirect stormwater to an expanded basin on the southeast end of the airfield, ensuring sustainable and efficient site development. Satellite Concourse 1 will be constructed as an extension of Concourse C, with completion targeted for 2028.
